Fragile Existence Of Dreams |
It's been quite sometime since my last
blog entry. In fact, I was actually living in another state when I
wrote last (yikes)!
So, “what's new?” you ask. Well,
let me begin by sharing what I've been working on the last couple of
months. For the last couple of years, I've had my art career on the
back burner. My wife, Jeannie, and I had visited Colorado, our first
quite some time. And while we we were in Colorado, we decided that
the 2000 mile separation from our kids and grand kids was just a bit
too much. So, we decided to relocate back to Colorado from Florida.
Well, I was working a day job in Florida, but I was also remodeling a
house (ours). So, I needed to focus on that before we could actually
sell our house, pack and move. Since I was doing most of the repairs
and remodeling myself, and I was working full time three towns away,
that left me with almost no time to paint.
We finally were able to sell our home,
say, “goodbye” to friends and the beach, pack and drive (yeah, I
did that part, too!) we landed back in Colorado in mid-October.
By the way, you don't know what you're
missing if you've never driven a 24 ft. (that's just the box part)
U-Haul truck, with a 12 ft. trailer (also just the box part) hauling
all your worldly possessions, with your wife and grandson in one car
and your daughter and grand daughter in another car, all trying to
stay together crossing 6 lanes of traffic on I-75 through Atlanta,
Ga. While trying to get to the correct lane to get onto I-20, at rush
hour! We were pressed at the time because of a house closing in
Florida and another house closing within a week in Colorado. Not
going to do that ever again!
We then bought another fixer-upper,
which was probably the toughest house project ever. But, were working
our way through it at a pretty good pace. I was actually able to
start up my studio in January and do some painting. I also wanted to
revamp my website which I literally have done nothing to in a year
and a half.
The other reason for revamping my
website was due to some big time changes in my style (and now my
subject matter). My website, www.EdwardMcCarthy.com, just wasn't reflecting the work I am
doing nor the direction I have wanted to explore for some time.
So, today is the day I'm relaunching my
website AND this blog. My desire is share much, much, more then what
I shared in the past.
BlessingsEddie Mac
